Hey everyone, hope you're doing well. Everyone knows parrots can talk, often depicted as pirate companions shouting "pieces of eight! Pieces of eight!" and cracking jokes at the worst moments, but here are some fun facts you might not know and parrots:
Parrots are the only birds that are able to eat with their feet! It's because they have two claws facing forwards and two facing backwards which means they can grip objects and branches very well.
Parrots have been kept as pets for over 3000 years. They were first recorded as being kept by ancient Egyptians, then Indians and peoples of the far East. They didn't reach Europe until 300BCE and were kept many members of the nobility once trade routes were established, including Aristotle, King Henry VIII and Queen Victoria. Sadly it is their desirability as pets that means there are fewer and fewer parrots in the wild.
The rarest parrot is the kakapo. It is a weighty, flightless bird - the only flightless parrot - and also the only nocturnal parrot. It lives in New Zealand and forms a part of Maori folklore, by which they believe the kakapo can tell the future - and follow its habit of preserving food in water. They apparently make good companions too, described in the 19thC. as "more like that of a dog than a bird" by the coloniser George Edward Grey.

The new 100 day project starts today! Last year was the first year I participated and it was pretty amazing.
Today only (Apr 7th), I'm offering up the opportunity to Name Your Price/Pay What You Can on all the drawings that are still available from my project last year, 100 Stellar Drawings.
This will be a last chance opportunity to get these drawings as I'll be taking them off my site tomorrow. This is a win/win for all, you'll be able to get some beautiful art for your home that is affordable for your budget, and I get to start fresh on a new project knowing last years drawing's are being well loved and appreciated.
Art is meant to be loved and seen, not stashed in a filing folder. Even though, whatever is left will be altered, displayed or gifted eventually, they currently feel like a trapped mass of energy that needs to be set free. It is my hope that my art will be a reminder of how beautiful and amazing our world is and the infinite possibilities that exist beyond what we can see.
Simply send an email with the link or the number of the drawing (or drawings) you want, name your price, and I'll send an invoice. It is first come, first served, so it is possible some one might have claimed one already, though I'm trying to be quick about things today so that won't happen.
Email: [email protected]
See link in profile to shop the 100 day project collection *a note about this year’s #100dayproject - I’ll be posting to stories and my personal account as many days might not be particularly art/business related. Some will, so I’ll post in the feed occasionally, but not on the daily here. This year’s project is: #100DaysOfRocksAndTrees
