Dawnstar, the capital city of the snowy and oddly shaped Hold known as The Pale. It is one of the few port cities of Skyrim, and is known to have less than great leadership. Some cities are plagued by issues. Whether it be a group of thieves living under your noses, a brotherhood of hired assassins living by your city gates, or in the case of Dawnstar, horrible nightmares across the entire town. Nobody seems to know the cause of these nightmares. Except for one man, a dark elf who resides inside the Windpeak Inn. It’s revealed that a Daedric Prince is behind the nightmares, and it is up to the Dragonborn and Erandur to confront her. Dawnstar is also the point of interest you may receive a letter about. A museum opens up in the north of the town by a man named Silus. His setup is related to a cult known as the Mythic Dawn, a group known for its blunders during the Oblivion Crisis, and the worship of Mehrunes Dagon. Finally, to the north of the town, there lies a door. This door isn’t a very normal looking door. It has a skull carved onto it, and a very familiar red handprint...
So, will you help resolve the issues with nightmares? or will you kill Erandur to become a champion of an evil god? Will you assist the Mythic Dawn in it’s attempt to regain footing in Tamriel? or gain the power of the Daedra who almost toppled Cyrodiil and possibly all of Tamriel? Will you join the Dark Brotherhood? or slaughter them all for the Penitus Oculatus? The choices lie before you.
Break the streets.
All cities have problems. Famine, unpopular politics, disease, the homeless, but Riften is different. Riften has always been differnet in some way, whether it be the high houses, the sour people, or their history. One of the many points in time where their history stood out was when Riften became rubble. During the Void Nights, a man by the name of Hosgunn Crossed-Daggers took the seat of Jarl after the previous ruler was killed mercilessly in an assassination attempt, seemingly for no reason. Many of the city believed that Hosgunn had ordered the attack in order take the throne. People of the city began their protest, peacefully marching in the streets and speaking their minds. Hosgunn wasn’t having it, he ordered that City Guard and a curfew be issued into in the city law and that began his iron fist and blackened heart rein. He ruled for forty years before people began to tear at the seems. Overthrown, the guards lost themselves in the riot as people attacked and burned everything in their sight. Hosgunn took refuge in the Keep, and it was soon burned to ash. Both the city and Jarl were lost. It took five years to rebuild Riften and elect a sustainable Jarl to the seat. The city is now a shadow of its former self, and many hope and pray for the former prosperous Riften to return as it was once before and not the shady town that sits on the shores of Lake Honrich. See you tomorrow.🛡⚔️🏹🗡
