Movie Recommendation Tuesday time here's a lesser known or overlooked/forgotten movie for you to check out.
For the next 4 weeks I will be recommending some Military Comedies films in pairs this week the topic is the NAVY.
Is a movie about Lt. Cmdr. Dodge a life long navy man who is forced into a war game with a rag tag group of naval garbage in order to become the captain of his own Submarine. This movie has a fantastic cast behind it lead by Kelsey Grammer who is really funny, the supporting cast has names like Rob Schneider, Lauren Holly, Harry Dean Stanton, Bruce Dern, Rip Torn, Harland Williams, William H. Macy and Patton Oswalt. This movie overall is just a lot of fun and is very underrated as a comedy I always laugh while watching this movie. This film is one I always used to watch when I was younger so it very nostalgic for me and I might be a bit bias on this one but check this one out.
Is about Retired Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale who spends his days around the Caribbean selling homebrew, ice cream, and calendars. He's brought out of retirement when his old nemesis turned the second best terrorist in the world, Major Vladikov, takes over the island of San Moreno. This movie is not as good as The previous one but still a good fun watch that also has a great cast that features Tom Arnold, Debra Messing, Tim Curry, David Alan Grier, Bruce Campbell and French Stewart. This movie as a whole is not very good but it is underrated and it does have a bunch of good laughs and is worth checking out.
Down Periscope (1996) Directed by David S. Ward.
Lauren Holly as Emily.
The USS Pampanito could not move under her own power. The underwater shots were scale models. The surface shots actually were the Pampanito, however she was being towed
Vetflix and Chill 🎥🍕 We hope everyone enjoyed the movie “Down Periscope” as much as we loved hosting. Once again, thank you to everyone who came out. Today marks the halfway point for Veterans Week and we could not be more excited for the last half of the week. We hope to see everyone out there first thing tomorrow morning with the IBIS Crawl! #OurLegacy#UMVSO#VeteransWeek#DownPeriscope
Down Periscope (1996)
A 90s comedy flick which is basically like a Police Academy set underwater. The film tells about a bunch of misfits who embarks an old submarine to conduct a highly classified mission given to them by the navy.
The only reason why I downloaded this flick is that I saw Rob Schneider on the poster of this film. And he does have a good character in the movie, but overall the film turned out to be an average flick. There are one or two funny scenes which literally made me laugh, but the film lacks the essential elements which pull the audience towards it.
It's a time pass movie which you can easily watch and forget.
BTW, I did love the cinematography in the film a lot. The way Victor Hammer, the cinematographer has used light to is quite prominent and interesting.

Terrible scenic selfie shots is proof to always bring your aspiring photographer friend along.
Personal observation: Homeless people in San Francisco probably make way more money than the average Midwest income.
