Somebody said Fall is the year’s last and loveliest smile. This is a little throwback to a few sundays back where it was so beautiful with golden leaves everywhere. Now I see all tree are bare and we are expecting first snow next week. It’s always so sad to bid farewell to Fall but I am also excited to welcome Christmas and New Year!

It’s getting colder in Delhi and I’m all for staying curled up in bed with cozy books and a hot beverage⛄️
I recently finished reading the first instalment of His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman, just in time for the BBC adaptation and I only wish I had read it sooner.
Lyra, our young mischievous protagonist often finds herself in troublesome situations and enjoy her days exploring and learning new things.
She learns of some mishaps ie. kidnapping of children taking place closer to home and something about “dust” that the adults seem very obsessed with and tries to follow the leads only to discover that her best friend has been kidnapped by the gang of gobblers.
Every human has a daemon (more like their soul, in an animal form) which are the subject of the gobbler’s terrible experiments. Lyra takes on a journey to bring her best friend home, save the children and their daemons, and find truths about herself, her potential and the universe.
This book is everything and more that I was hoping to read; it has magic and magical creatures, witches, armed polar bears and such an immersive cast of characters and plot!
A perfect read for fantasy lovers and if you’re looking for something gripping and to escape your everyday life!
I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 and highly recommend it! Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Have you read it? If yes, how did you like the book? Anyone watching the BBC adaptation?
