#saturdaythoughts 💭 - let's encourage each other to pay extra attention to the way we talk, the tone we use, and the words we use, when speaking to and about others. Let's aim to speak kindly and "root" for each other so we can help each other grow! 🙇♀️🌱
First time I see a video trying to explain RG. Interesting how some pictures were chosen (i.e. pain&tears) but not discussed a lot, then a whole 'section' on abusive practices brushed over fairly quickly. #rhythmicgymnastics#changetheculture https://youtu.be/0j_yK3W_tfU
If you’re new here, welcome! Let me introduce myself. ◦◦◦
I’m Sara. I love to dance, bake, and fight the patriarchy. I meditate, get my bare feet on the earth daily, talk to the birds, and try to teach myself and others how to come from self-love as much as possible.
I am a Skills For Change Coach from a Radical lineage, a Qi Gong instructor, and a Relationship Anarchist. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Skills For Change is a practice that gives people back their hope and teaches them how to live from choice instead of fear and habit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
People are doing the best they can with the tools and resources available to them. Unfortunately, culture and oppression often undermine and confuse our efforts to live our best lives. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I help people analyze behaviors, relationships, systems, and transactions to see where old habits are no longer serving them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Through practice and repetition we create sustainable embodied change.
I teach how to cultivate awareness of where you have power, how to use it, and how to create spaciousness to accept where you are powerless.
And, I teach radical self-love, bringing compassion to all of the above work, because change is hard, and being in a body is hard, and we don’t have to do it alone. ◦◦◦
I’d love to get to know you! Say hi, drop an emoji, share something about yourself! I’m glad you’re here. 😊
#Day4 SCREAM Initiative is an NGO that advocates against Sexual Assault and Gender Based Violence, and SCREAM stands from Stand up, Cry out, Reach out, Eliminate abuse, Allow justice and Make a difference.
For SAAM our goal is to make more people aware about Sexual violence of any kind and the awareness can never be over emphasized either online or offline. We also want to show our support for survivors/victims and to give them hope.
Together we can stop sexual assault and gender based violence in our community... @nsvrc#30daysofsaam#saam#screaminitiative
@fishbowl_sashimi are feeding the frontline and you get to nominate someone! Look out for this flyer in your delivery! Your nomination will absolutely make someone’s day (& keep the guys busy). Let’s come together & support those working hard on the frontlines. 💚🧡💜💙💛❤️
It’s the third day of #SAAM. Join us in supporting survivors today and everyday! Everyone’s voice is necessary in preventing sexual violence. Sexual violence thrives when it is not taken seriously and victim-blaming goes unchecked. The more we spread awareness and educate on the issue, the more allies we gather to support survivors and prevent sexual violence before it happens! #WeBelieveSurvivors#ChangeTheCulture#SAAM2020

Things I Use to Prepare: I am a nurse at a very large hospital that currently does not acknowledge Sexual Assault Awareness Month. I could NOT have that. So, I became a one woman, grassroots movement of informing colleagues, doctors, and anyone who would listen! I started purchasing supplies at the beginning of the year. When at work, I take my “swag bag” around and engage in conversation about #saam and handout the goodies. In my photo you’ll see my decorated teal bag that houses a multitude of various bracelets, pens, stickers, badge holders, and pins. This year I also added some candy and homemade ponytail holders, of course in various teal colors and patterns. All things nurses can and do use! I’ve also created several original social media posts for #saam throughout the month. I’ve literally been prepping since January😘 I don’t accept donations, instead encourage them to support our local Cleveland Rape Crisis Center @clevelandrcc. When handing out the teal ribbon swag, I only ask that if questioned about the significance of the teal ribbon bracelet or pen is to have the courage and conviction to tell them. @nsvrc#30daysofsaam#day2#saam#believesurvivors#changetheculture#survivorstrong#endsexualassault#speakoutevenifyourvoiceshakes

The biggest failure I could imagine is not raising you two and you Kings not being best friends, not unconditionally loving one another, not just as brothers, but as brothers, as friends, as Kings, as blood, as family, as 1!!!!
One of the main reasons we started enggirlproblems was to talk openly about the issues we face in the workplace in the hopes of bringing awareness to the experiences of women in engineering and collectively finding solutions. 🧐
We know that the challenges faced by women in engineering are based on deep-set biases and habits. This graphic by @quotesbychristie and quote from Stephen R. Covey summarizes that concept well - that you can’t change the fruit (in our case, the challenges) without changing the root (the culture).
As queer women of color, we know that filtering critical feedback can feel like an impossible task. Is this commentary harsher because of my identities? Will this criticism actually help me reach *my* goals or is it meant to make me conform to something I don’t believe in? We love revisiting @annfriedman’s Disapproval Matrix to help make sense of the noise.
As Ann says, “When you receive negative feedback that falls into one of the top two quadrants—from experts or people who care about you who are engaging with and rationally critiquing your work—you should probably take their comments to heart. When you receive negative feedback that falls into the bottom two quadrants, you should just let it roll off your back and just keep doin’ you.”
Image: @annfriedman’s disapproval matrix. The x axis goes from “know you” on the left to “don’t know you” in the right, and the y axis goes from “rational” at the top to “irrational” at the bottom.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. While it can be a difficult topic to digest, this is a month where we show survivors we support them. I’m a 33 year-old married woman with no kids.
Do I want them?
I think so.
Do I want them now?
Do I need to be questioned about it or convinced otherwise?
Many of my therapy clients are reaching the age where they are beginning to feel the pressure of starting a family. And for about 95% of them, this pressure isn’t coming from their own personal desire to have children.
It’s coming from SOCIETAL EXPECTATIONS.
When a woman hits her mid-twenties, starts seeing her friends get married / have kids, she begins to question her own feelings on the matter. And that’s completely normal. We’re going to begin to ask ourselves if we want that — and when we want it — when we see lots of people in our lives experiencing this.
But the sad part is, if we didn’t live in a society where women are CONSTANTLY questioned about whether they are marrying / having a kid / having more, this pressure would be MINIMAL.
It’d be a matter of a women asking HERSELF if she wants it or if it’s her time, not a matter of AVOIDING EXTERNAL JUDGEMENT.
If we didn’t constantly ask single women WHY ARE YOU STILL SINGLE (like it’s a bad thing)…
If we didn’t ask married women WHEN ARE Y’ALL STARTING A FAMILY (and assuming they even want / can have children)…
If we didn’t ask new moms SO WHEN’S NUMBER TWO COMING (and guilting them over just having one child)…
If we didn’t constantly pummel women with questions so completely based on our OWN expectations of them — expectations marred with patriarchal influence — women would feel infinitely less insecure, behind, or question where they stand in their lives. Because that is no one’s business but HERS. 👊🏻 Because it’s 2019 and we need expand our views on a woman’s role in society.
We can honor + support women simply through what we ask them. Ask about how their career is going. Or what their next travel plans are. Or where they see themselves in five years.
With or without a husband or children, let’s make women feel like they are self-sufficient, accomplished, and powerful humans — completely & totally on her own. 🧡 ...and as you can see, being the cool aunt is pretty awesome for now. 😉

Another year, another racecar? 🏁
Last year we had the opportunity to help an amazing couple by purchasing their home!
The house needed a ton of work (over $100k worth), and the owners lived in a new house while this one sat. We took care of closing costs- and bought as-is, so they didn't have to worry about repairs.
It was an amazing experience and with that amazing experience we had another. They had asked us to put our logo on their racecar and would advertise for us! This is our second year putting the logo on their car, and it shows that solving problems and helping people can truly lead to unbelievable experiences.
Use these uncertain times to do something special for someone, even something small. It means a lot to someone, and like this experience we had, I guarantee they, and you, will never forget! "They may forget what you said... but they will never forget how you made them feel." -Carl Buehner
P.S. Check out that last photo to see what I think of this experience!

Leading from behind. We the people are way ahead of you. Your early discouraging of masks will haunt you.
A picture says a thousand words. Too many dudes out here flashing and for what? No investments, bank accounts, 401K, real estate, land, etc. What do you really have? In reality you are no better off than the guy working a regular 9-5 at McDonalds. At least he's not in jeopardy of losing his life, money, time/years off his life (prison), with nothing to show when it's all said and done. Be wise! Don't be a broke man with money.
