The author of this article actually started the piece by saying that @jlo hasn’t released the workouts she performed to get in shape for her latest film, but that didn’t stop her from making the claim that obviously Jlo challenging her muscles in unique ways was the key.
That’s literally never the key to defined muscles.
Your muscles don’t need unique movements to challenge them. They need a greater stimulus: more weight, more reps, more time under tension. ⠀
The most glaring omission though is that abs are about reducing body fat. And that, my friend, is nutrition. Boring ol’ calorie deficit again.
You can’t get JLo’s abs. But you can improve the look of yours:
1️⃣ Reduce your body fat by eating in a calorie deficit.
2️⃣ Train with intention focusing on variations of squats, deadlifts, lunges, bridges, upper body pushes, & upper body pulls.
3️⃣ Do direct ab work within your training sessions: 2-3 sets of 1-2 ab exercises 2-3 times per week. Some of my favorite ab exercises are planks (single leg, slow reaching, up/down, long lever..) Hollow holds, Pallof presses, Slow Russian Twists, Reverse Crunches, Landmine rotations, Bear crawl variations and Carries (farmer, suitcase, waiter.)
