Only 5 days are left till the launch of the website and the end of the auction. We have got one more bidder. His bid is USD$206. Hurry up to get a numerated print and the original drawing with my signature.
By the way, new works I will probably do not on paper. I have recently gotten acquainted with an iPad Pro tablet and now mastering it. Meanwhile, watch a time-lapse video of the drawing process. This is a very short video. The full version you will be able to watch on my YouTube channel a little bit later.
The Italian Army during World War Two was a Royal Army (Regio Esercito) pledged to King Victor Emmanuel III. However the Italian Royal Armed Forces were in truth commanded by Italian Prime Minister Benito Mussolini.
When war broke out in 1939, The Italian Army which had proven itself during the Ethiopian Conquest (1935-36) and the Spanish Civil War (1936-1945), was one of the most veteran fighting forces in Europe.
However all most 5 years of war had left the Italian Army exhausted.
Mussolini was well aware that both the Italian Army & Italian industry were unready for a major European war. Nevertheless, spurred on by Hitlers victories in France, Mussolini sent the Italian Nation to war on June 10th, 1940.
That September the Italian 10th Army, which had been building up in Libya launched a largely successful offensive into British occupied Egypt. In October another offensive was launched, this time into Greece.
Mussolini’s success was short lived. In November the Greeks launched a offensive driving the Italians back.
Just weeks later the British too launched an offensive code named Operation Compass. By January 1941 the 150,000 strong Italian 10th Army was all but destroyed. The prospect of losing North Africa prompted Hitler to intervene.
