do you have an interest in books with a mental health theme? 🖤 my second read for Nonfiction November is THE COLLECTED SCHIZOPHRENIAS by @esmewwang; I picked this because it’s on the Nonfiction Shortlist of the Reading Women Award for 2019—and my friend and @thereadingwomen colleague @kdwinchester recommended it to me 🥰🖤I’m currently halfway through and super glad I picked this; I might finish it tonight though I’m trying not to rush too much because I want to properly understand what Wang is communication in her elegantly written essays. I’m definitely learning a lot about the nuances of living with schizoaffective disorder, how it affect a person’s sense of self while also being faced with a system that doesn’t make it easier for them (I’m especially shocked by the longterm response of prestigious universities towards students who are struggling with their mental health). I will write more about this book in a later post since I’m still reading it, but I can say now—based on having read halfway through— that THE COLLECTED SCHIZOPHRENIAS is an excellent collection of essays that are well-connective enough that it feels more like a memoir; the essays have various themes that examine the challenges of living with a mental health condition that has been thoroughly stigmatised by health care institutions, society and even popular culture. There’s a lot to learn here and I’d recommend adding this book to your list if you’re looking for nuanced writing on the schizophrenias, especially from an American perspective (Wang discusses the American health care system, esp it’s flaws, limitations, with meticulous detail). I’m quite stunned at how brilliantly Wang has written a narrative that is personal, introspective and academic at the same time. .
So have you read any nonfiction books in November?! This is the first time I’m participating in Nonfiction November because I recently realized that I don’t read nonfiction enough 🥺🖤 I’ll definitely be making a more conscious effort from now, not going to wait for 2020 to make this change 🥰🖤

When designing Ladana, a lot of time was taken into every detail. How the lights play against the marble, the fabrics used and the set up of each booth and table to create a unique atmosphere that hadnt been seen in sheesha lounges. We sourced the material from Dubai and around the world so the quality could be seen as well as felt.
We love seeing you all and the feedback you give us as it re iterates all the long hours of planning and love that was put in. Thank you 😊🙏
