We've taken some time off from the blog, because well we were struggling with how to put words to this new normal we're living in. .
We've finally overcome the challenge and found words for the feelings, but still feel utterly exhausted. .

🤬#truestory!!! A must read for ALL mom's... Dear moms of white sons,
A few years ago my 23 year old black son had a hand me down car and the Windows didn't roll down. He was pulled over a couple of times in our mostly white upper middle class neighborhood. Once for just being parked and sitting right in front of our house because the police thought "he didn't belong there". (His words.) Every time he left the house at night to go hang with his friends, I would feel nauseous and couldn't sleep until he was home.
Many times I asked him to txt me when he got to where he was going and told him that if he were to ever get pulled over, he is to call me on his cell phone right away! I walked him through how to let the police know (BEFORE just opening his door) that his windows didn't roll down.
The nightmare I played in my head over and over again of picturing my son getting pulled over and opening the door on a police officer, instead of rolling down his window, was enough to make me sick and scared to death for my baby AND also enough to help him buy a new car.
Just out of curiosity? How many mom's of white sons have to worry about something like this?
#truestory #2 I've never allowed My 13 year son to buy or play with toy guns outside of the house not even when he was little, not even when all his white friends had toy guns. Not in the front yard, not at a neighbor's house or at a park, for fear that someone might see him as a threat.
How many mom's of white sons have to worry about something like this?
#truestory #3 I went against everything I believe in as far standing up for yourself and speaking your truth and basically sat my oldest son down and told him to cower himself. I told him that if he's ever questioned by someone in our neighborhood or by a cop that he is to call me from his cell ASAP. He is never to defend himself or say anything smart ass or anything that would make a police officer even THINK that he was being disrespectful even if the police officer was in the wrong. He is to answer him by saying yes sir or no sir because I'd rather him walk away with a bruised ego than to be carried away in a body bag.

THIS. IS. MY. THERAPY.
It’s been a week. HEAVY. Usually when I am emotionally depleted, I have resources at my disposal to “recharge”. COVID means literally no access to things like going to the spa or having dinner with friends to allow me to unload some of the weight...so instead I lift them. Sweating is another form of release, just like the tears I’ve been crying all week. The release of endorphins have been helping me get through. Details on some of the exercises and my outfit are below. The sandbag is 50 lbs for reference:
💪🏾Sumo Squat to High Pulls
💪🏾Burpee to Renegade Row
💪🏾Single Leg Deadlift
💪🏾Reverse Lunge to Knee Drive
Still getting loads of Q’s about this set from @JoeFresh after posting on my stories yesterday. One of my favourite looks from the last release. The colour, the fit...👌🏾 Seems like a lot of y’all love it to because the crop just completely sold out. There are still some sizes available in the shorts, but act fast - THEY WON’T BE RESTOCKED as a new collection drops in a week 😏 #ad

My efforts to combat injustices are to put myself in the room with birthing mothers, to be the educational resource for women who don’t always know they have a choice, to speak to my brown babies and instill in them the confidence to navigate through this sometimes corrupt world.
✊🏾 Make the phone calls to make your voice heard in matters of injustice. ✊🏾Sign the campaigns that put a fire under the asses of those who shouldn’t have to be told to do their jobs. ✊🏾Text the hotlines to find out what more you can do-if you can. ✊🏾Every voice counts! This is just the beginning.
This song is the greatest and also happens to be what I'll be doing today. #BlackGirlMagic #SaturdayVibes

The expectation of just us two in quarantine this whole time 😋😈. Swipe for the reality...😑🤦🏽♀️ & Episode 7 of Season 4 of @datingforlifepod is LIVE for your listening pleasure wherever you listen to your podcasts!
“Threatened: The Feeling is Mutual” • Yesterday in my run I saw a gun laying on the trail. Because trauma is in my blood and though your post and stories inspire me, they also trigger me. Scrolling social media right now is harmful to black psyches. We have to relive these nightmares every-time you post your solidarity. Be vocal, be active, but also be mindful that sensitive subjects require viewer discretion, lest you too mistake a tree branch for gun. 🌱LOG OFF FOR THE DAY. 🌿The fight will still be there tomorrow.
