What’s your ritual before you attempt something new on the platform?
Ammonia tabs? Your favorite song? A reassuring look from your best friend? Or from your coach?
For me, I’m a fairly calm and actually shy lifter. I don’t want anybody watching me before I attempt a new weight on the bar, lol. I’m either listening to a motivational speech, or Miley Cyrus. Both do the trick.
I remember I had a ritual before cross-country meets— I ALWAYS painted my toenails a ridiculous color, something stupidly bright like orange or bright neon blue. Running was always mentally exhausting for me, and the paint on my toenails reminded me of how in control I was... and also at the end of the day, even if I was puking my guts out... under my sneakers was a funky ass pedicure.
Lifting never feels mentally exhausting and I am grateful to have something that I can look forward to, day in and day out.
AnywAYsz— tell me about your ritual. What is you DOIN before the platform? If your routine interests me enough, I’ll try it out before I hit a top set this week 🤩

Just about 9 weeks out 😬. Keeping it conservative throughout this week since I’ll be gone all weekend which means 4 days in a row working out for me. Deez felt purdy gewd 🍑. Things are about to get exciting #roadtorawnats2019#tournamentofpower
Training archives from vegas. You never know how powerful your index finger is until you almost lose it. I literally smashed my index finger in between some steel kg plates and needed stitches. When I say deadlifts was painful, it was PAINFUL! I tried pulling with a straight index finger or not applying pressure on my finger, it was a literal fail. Hook grip is basically index, middle and thumb fingers. I was able to get it done tho.
Bench still moving, groove kinda wonky on a few reps but I'll get that cleaned up. No finger issues with bench since the barbell is in my palms. All gains because of them SHOES!
