There are two ways to get to the Colorado Trail from Silverton. The first is at the end of segment 24 at Molas Pass along the highway, and the second is a 6-mile ATV road straight up 3,000ft to Stony Pass. Shout out to myself for coming down from the ATV road last summer, those bonus miles were even more fun to hike up 🙄
Days 4&5 (8/28-8/29) Our fourth day out we ended up taking a zero day at Red’s. My stomach was not adjusting well to all the processed food, especially when combined with long miles and a heavy pack. Since I couldn’t keep any food or water in me we decided to take a rest day and see if it got better before committing to a few more days in the backcountry.
We hit the trail bright and early the next morning allowing us to get 11 of our 16.1 miles in before lunch (the BEST feeling 🙌). After lunch we took a glorious trail nap and hiked our remaining miles feeling fresh and renewed. We camped at Lake Virginia and both went for a chilly evening swim - making the sharing of a tent much more tolerable. #trailhairdontcare#thruhiker#backpacking#jmt#jmt2019#johnmuirtrail#optoutside
This is Cotopaxi volcano, one of the 55 you can visit in Ecuador. Nerko is here at a altitude of 4850m, and to be able to countinue to the summit you need to guide. Isn't it boring to travel with a tour when you know everything is orginized and will work smoothly. Isn' it more thrilling if you decide to go on your own not knowing what to expect. To not fit in the general tourist population Nerko did hitchhiking to Cotopaxi and this way he not only saved 20$ but made new friends and visited as a bonus a nearby lake for free, because the secound vehielce who gave him a lift was a tour bus (what a coincidence). 🇪🇨❤
