Baby update! After the traumatic rescue, we ended finding baby's nest. My friend sesrched asking for a ladder to put baby back in the nest. Finally we found a verizon worker with a tall ladder. He courageously climbed high above the store and put baby back! But then after 3 hours and back with the parents, baby fell again! That is when I took baby home. He/she is with a foster mama and will be cared for until ready for a release into an undisclosed location for safety and protection. Thank you for all of your love and kindness towards these precious beings. ❤❤🐦🐦 #pigeonreligeon#babypigeon#animalrescue#birdlady#pigeonpose

🐦 Guess what! The pigeons we released came back to their home base! They like to perch (and 💩) on our roof, garage, in the trees, etc. They greet me when I come home from work, because they know I’ll hook them up with food. Not going to lie, it sort of makes me feel like a modern-day Snow White. 😏
Remember, part of a soft-release is keeping food, shelter, and water available to the wildlife we release, while they figure out their home in the wild. I love when they stop in to say hi to their human Mom! 🥰 The animals I raise can easily differentiate between myself and other humans.
DID YOU KNOW: Pigeons are considered one of the most intelligent birds! That’s why they can be trained for so many purposes.
If you love the wildlife rehab efforts of myself and my family, please consider making a monetary contribution (you can securely do so by following the link in our bio). We rely solely on donations and money out of our own pockets.☺️
I hope everyone’s had a great week thus far!

Indy Anna Bones is the kind of person that has birds handed to her as she walks down the street. This little pigeon had fallen on bird spikes and needed professional rehab. Indy Anna Bones knows who to call.

The number-one rule of rescuing baby birds is not to do it. Their mother is probably nearby. Mr. Peepers had got himself stuck behind our garbage cans where the rats would have found him very soon. He would have gone to rehab the next evening if his mother wasn't at our window the next day trying to chew open the screen so he could get to her. When I let him out on the fire escape, he flew away with his mother like he'd been doing it for years.
When we found a baby pigeon that had fallen on bird spikes, he needed a little more professional help.

Here we are candling Crack's egg before he/she hatched. There was movement and the egg was cracked so our volunteer, Robert, super glued the crack and put it under a racing pigeon pair in the house who were on fake eggs. The parents in the aviary are fantails who abandoned the egg after it cracked. They were sneaky and got this one egg past us by hiding it in all the hay in the aviary. Robert found the egg still warm. His quick reaction saved this baby's life. #loftyhopes#pigeonrehab#pigeonrescue#pigeonlivesmatter#pigeonpositivemovement#eggcandling#babypigeon#pigeonegg#egg
Meet Pip. While walking home from the gym last week, I stumbled upon this little baby. She was alone huddled into a corner. I approached her and she didn’t move. She made an attempt to run away, actually tried to run up a wall, so it was clear she needed help. I scooped her up in my t-shirt and carried her home. Once there I checked her over. An obvious sign of starvation is a protruding breast bone. It’s always such a sad thing to discover when they need so little food to survive. I contacted several rehabbers and sorted a plan to get her care that will extend through to spring. She will be introduced into a flock that will be released together at a park which has regular flock feeders. Holding a baby bird in a t-shirt and running home to get them in a comfy transport carrier with a heat pad really pulls at your heart strings. I’m so glad I found little Pip. She’s going to live happily ever after. #pigeons#pigeonsofinstagram#babypigeon#pip
Who likes baby pigeons? They really are so adorable. Pigeon parents both make crop milk for their babies. They also keep their babies in the nest for 6 weeks until they are almost full grown. That's why you don't see baby pigeons unless they have fallen out of the nest. #babypigeon#pigeonreligeon#pidgilante

So today I was honored to rescue a baby pigeon who happened to have a broken leg. Shout out the AWESOME PEOPLE at Wildbird Fund located on 565 Columbus Ave for rescuing my little baby I fell in love with. If you see any bird that needs help, don’t waste your time going to vet offices (as I did), you won’t get any help. They don’t ask you for money, just for donation if you feel like (amount is up to you). And once again,SAVE TURKEY! EAT SALAD! #wildlifematters#babypigeon#turkey#saveturkey
