“But,” I said, “when I see my work I take for granted what other people value in it. I see only its ineptitude, inorganic flaws, and crudities. I am not pleased or satisfied.”
“No artist is pleased.”
“But then there is no satisfaction?”
“No satisfaction whatever at any time,” she cried out passionately. “There is only a queer divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.” -Conversation with Martha Graham
I can just feel the warm sun beating down on me through cotton-strewn skies on this 30x40" @fredrixcanvas Dixie Pro. It's number 8 in my newest series, "Place & Time." Each piece of the collection focuses on the intersection of a certain place with a specific moment. If I had been on these mountain tops at another time, they would still be lovely, but the clouds would be different. If it had been this time of day, but in a different location (say, a cubicle), it might not have quite so transcendent a feeling 😉. It's all about the intersection of the two, capturing that perfect fleeting moment and making it permanent.

I found my favourite blue.. its Indanthrene blue.. I also love Vermilion for warm red. These 2 together produce beautiful spectrum of greys, from steel grey sky to brown coal that's burning inside and just cooled down and blackened on the outside. They are vibrant when clean, but not eyecringing.😍 My yellows are complex.. they dont seem to exist in my paintings, but probably too many of them in the pallet, too early to eliminate.
Greens are a mystery.👻 Australian greenery is dusky and mauve with splatters of pure pigment that doesnt seem to have been discovered by me anyways. Looks like the most successful Australian landscapes have been painted without any greens, but I probably don't know enough.. If you know of Australian landscape paintings that have really good greens in it please share I want to see it all 🙋♀️ And this is a photo of a durty pallet, not one of my 'masterpieces'🤪 #artistlife#artistpallet#watercolour#watercolors#dailyart#rembrandtwatercolours#nevskayapalitra #невскаяпалитра #учусьрисовать #акварель #художникподумал #художникнаписал
