You would have celebrated many Ugadi (New Year day) festivals in your life. Certain traditional practices go with every festival, such as having a sacred bath, wearing new clothes, cleaning the house and decorating it with buntings of green leaves. Greatness lies in purifying our thoughts, not merely the transient human body. The significance of a festival does not lie in wearing new clothes but in cultivating new and noble thoughts. The house should be decorated not merely with the buntings of green leaves, but with buntings of love. Share your love with everyone who visits your house. Only then would we be celebrating the festival in its true spirit. Today, humanity is stricken with fear and restlessness. Courage and strength are on the decline, because of unsacred thoughts and wicked feelings. Your enemies are not outside. Bad thoughts are your worst enemies and noble thoughts based on Truth are your best friends! (Divine Discourse 18 Mar 1999) - Baba -
I think in times like this, it pays to switch off. 🙏
I mean seriously, what fuck can we do? 😬
We have zero control over a global pandemic. 💁♂️
There's a beautiful feature on Instagram, click the top right 3 dots, look for "activity" and see how much your Instagram average daily use is. Mine was 3 hours 30 minutes. That's huge. Sure I post and try to engage but that's maybe 1-1:30. 🙏
I dont have an excuse for those 2 hours of my life I'm wasting daily. Just consuming crap and not putting my best foot forward. 😌
So I suggest you do the same. ✌️
In times like this we must control what we can control, I'm telling you do the basics, clean your room, wipe down all the surfaces, vacuum, clean your car, stay off social as much as possible and watch your mood shift. 🙏
Love you all so much ❤️
I'm alive today which means I have another beautiful day ahead of time spent with people who are still working hard and are chasing goals and happiness. ❤️
It's a fucking weird time, but we're better than this. 😷😂
In times such as these it may feel like life as we know it is eroding away...This will pass. Things may be different on the other side of this, but we will go on. We will still be here...#COVID19 #london#ThoughtForTheDay pic.twitter.com/I4dhLI3C6g
1 Thessalonians 5:11 says this: "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up...”
We're going to be launching a new "Thought for the Day" series that will be written by members of our church, as we seek to share, encourage and challenge each other in this new, unusual season. These won't necessarily be every day, but watch out for the first one tomorrow...
These will be shared across our social media channels as well as being emailed to our database to reach those who aren't on social media. We hope these will bring you support, inspiration and encouragement through this time.
I’m pretty certain that once your brain reaches full development at age 25... it forever stays mentally 25... Regardless of how melted your body becomes over the years by simply existing. Lol #ThoughtForTheDay

Be kind! Bare faced and rosy cheeked after a run! 😊 There’s a human honesty about this time that modern generations haven’t witnessed. We’re seeing people as they truly are. We have time for each other now we’re not rushing around here there and everywhere with work, our children, the shops, and other commitments. Sterile one-line text replies have been replaced by warm engaged responses and long video chats with friends. 📞 Suddenly we have time to show the people that matter how much we care, no excuses. Despite being apart we’re more together than ever. I’m loving that, are you? 👩❤️👩 Hopefully making time for each other will be a good effect of the virus 🦠 that endures long after it has packed its bags.
Enjoy Kitty O’Mear’s beautiful words this weekend ; “And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently. And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.
And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed."

J U S T B E / / kindness is a not just a virtue, it is an essential service. Especially when times get tough. We have no idea what someone else is going through at any moment, even if the picture they have painted shows otherwise. Our opinions may differ from time to time, but having a little extra empathy and a little less judgment will get us far, not just now, but in our future endeavours. This life is all a choice. That goes for how we choose to treat people. Let’s choose compassion.
Remember that everything has a purpose. Investing our energy into negative thoughts or actions creates an imbalance in our lives that will only drain our light and purpose. Those thoughts are energetic creations. In order to refrain from having to take part in the rebalancing of energy, it is important to release any negative thoughts into the care of the universe with forgiveness. Every interaction is an opportunity to make a better choice.
There have been many times I have not been kind however; to my self, to others, nobody is perfect. We all have flaws. We all make mistakes. We all have regrets. We also have the choice to see those flaws, mistakes, regrets as gifts. Take that gift and allow ourselves time to reflect on the lessons learned. This may not be an immediate change. Allow ourselves the time to learn the lessons. Considering how others were feeling in those times or how they feel now, how you feel; open up a whole new perspective to discover and grow from. This is all a chain reaction that will realign the balance of energy that will give us life! The life we want to lead. Take action. Victim mentality and excuses will only hinder our growth as empaths.
Trust me, it’s cool 💕 Be a leader, but if you choose to be a follower, at least follow the leader!
Yesterday was a strange day for me.
Until yesterday I was managing with the 'lockdown', with getting my one form of exercise per day, walking in the woods, and creating content to share here. But yesterday I started to feel different.
I'm coming to the end of two weeks annual leave from my NHS post (great timing, Chris 🙄) and I started to think about all the things I haven't done. All the things I planned to do but didn't get round to, and I started to feel bad.
I think this was amplified by spending much more time at home, less time with friends and not visiting my family as planned.
I started to get into a bit of a negative thought cycle. "I should have done more", "I should have started this account earlier", "I should have read more of my book". Today I woke up and things were different. I saw some posts promoting self compassion and acceptance in these difficult times. It motivated me. I went for a mindful walk, reflected on the things I had done and on the fact that we don't always have to 'do' anything.
Sometimes it's just as important to take some time to reflect, recharge and reconnect with our values.
And so I was inspired to create this post to share with you all.
I'm curious, how have you been feeling these last few days and how are you looking after yourself?
Please let me know in the comments.

Hear the sweet melody of the birdsong.
You heard it before, but not like now.
Watch how the viburnum tree dances in the wind.
You watched it before, but not like now.
Listen to the perfect stillness everywhere.
You listened before, but not like now.
Notice too, how despite all the fear, a deeper calm prevails.
And afterwards, when everything returns to how it was before, remember this time, and how you truly noticed.

How can we be at peace?
"Man craves for peace. Though the source of peace and bliss is within himself, he seeks them in the external like one pursuing a mirage. Owing to restless activity, endless worry and limitless desires, man has lost peace of mind and has become prey to discontent and misery. At the outset, peace has to be cultivated within ourselves. And then that peace has to be extended to the family. From the home it should be spread to our village. Thus, peace should begin with the individual and spread to the whole society."

"Live each day as though it were your last" is such #badadvice. Who would ever have their teeth cleaned or their oil changed? #ThoughtForTheDay
Thought for the Day: "You treat us not as we deserve but as you choose, and your choice is love."
Read this today, and was strangely reminded of the film "Unforgiven", where Munny tells the Kid "We all have it coming." Thank G-d we don't get what we deserve. .

People say that service to humanity (manava-seva) is service to God (Madhava-seva). That is a true statement. But mere repetition of the slogan is useless if service is done without faith in the divinity of people and with an eye on name and fame and the fruits of one’s action. Whatever actions one undertakes, if one constantly has as companion the contemplation of the Lord, and if one has faith in the essential divinity of people, then the statement is justified. Without thoughts of God, how can service to God originate? All such talk is mere show. I won’t agree to that. Instead, whatever is done with the Lord in mind, along the path of truth and according to aspects of dharma, has to be considered as selfless service (seva) to the Lord. In fact, those who are immersed in the uninterrupted contemplation of the Lord need not do any other task at all. The fruit of their prayer itself can make the world holy. However, all can’t be thus engaged, so try to prepare for that stage by purifying the mind and diminishing desires. (Prema Vahini, Ch 71) - Baba -
How are we connected with the world at large?
"You must realise by constant contemplation that the world is the Body of God. And, you are a cell, in that Body. The prosperity of the world is your prosperity; feel so, act in that spirit; think in those terms. That is real spirituality. The Sadhak (spiritual aspirant) cannot cut himself away from the world and escape into solitude, for, the world will follow him into the deepest cave or the darkest forest. The Saadhak can claim progress only when he has established in himself faith in the one-ness of humanity.
The Geeta says - "O Arjuna, the Lord is seated in the heart of all beings ." Isaavasyam Idam Sarvam - "All this is enveloped in God." Everything and every being are but waves on the surface of the vast unbounded timeless ocean, which is #God. Waves belong to the ocean and depend on it for their individual existence; but, the ocean has no need of waves. Therefore, you are bound inextricably with all else and all others. The world will inevitably react on you; it will reflect your thoughts and plans: it will resound with your cries and creeds. Your thoughts, words and deeds will shape others, and theirs, will shape you. It is your duty to be good, do good, and see good. That is the way to make the world good, and be yourself good."

The spiritual aspirant should always seek the truthful and joyful, and must avoid all thoughts of the untrue, sad and depressing. Depression, doubt, conceit — these are as Rahu and Kethu to the spiritual aspirant. They will harm one’s spiritual practice. When one’s devotion is well established, they can be easily discarded if they appear. Above all, it is best for the spiritual aspirant to be joyful, smiling, and enthusiastic under all circumstances. Even more than devotion and spiritual wisdom, this pure attitude is desirable. Those who have acquired it deserve to reach the goal first. This quality of joy at all times is the fruit of the good done in past births. A person who is ever worried, depressed, and doubting can never attain bliss, whatever be the spiritual practice one undertakes. The first task of a spiritual aspirant is the cultivation of enthusiasm. Through that enthusiasm, any variety of spiritual bliss (ananda) can be derived. - Prema Vahini, Ch. 63 -BABA-
What are you distracting yourself from today?
We are all amazing at distracting ourselves. We are magicians at finding ways to avoid pain, which is why so many of us struggle with chronic pain because we are afraid to face emotional pain.
What would it be like to sit with yourself for 1- 5 minutes today and just notice the experience?
➡️Do you feel the need to distract?
➡️Can you be in the experience?
➡️What's it like?
These types of experiences build our "presence" muscle. We feel better when we are able to be present in the moment vs being in the past or the future.
The world is in an intermission. (For those of us who are not essential workers)
Intermissions are granted during movies so you can handle your self care- get something to eat, use the restroom, stretch your legs and do whatever it is you need to do so that you can fully be present during the movie when it resumes.
What are things that you need to handle that you didn’t have time for before?
What are things that you wanted to do, but your schedule didn’t allow it?
Use this intermission to eat better, work out more, treat yourself with relaxing activities, spend quality time with your loved ones (virtually or at-home), write thank you notes to those who have helped you thus far, engage in creative activities, meditate, learn a new skill - do anything and every thing that makes you smile.
Ask yourself what do your mind, body and soul crave. How can You appease this? What can You do in this moment to make yourself happier and treat yourself to it?
Our lives will inevitably resume again and when that time comes do you want to be the same or do you want to be ready, present & evolved?
The intermission is here whether you like it or not- you can either waste this precious time away or you can use it to level up and really take care of yourself.
Your health & your time are your two most valuable resources- use this time to enhance your health so that when life resumes you will be the wealthiest version of you moving forward.
An old saying goes something like when things are stripped away, you realize what’s truly important. And for many of us, one of those things is connection. Ironically, we’re realizing that physical proximity does not equate connection. Now that we can’t be together physically, we’re remembering what it means to be present. For presence goes beyond the mere physical and reaches into the more important yet ethereal qualities of acceptance, intentional interest in the other, and belonging.
I’m so grateful for technology which enables all citizens of the digital age to be present in all the ways that matter. We’re talking to each other more and asking with care about the ordinary tidbits that make up our lives—how’s your anxiety, do you have enough groceries, how are you using the time that you have?
When all this is over—which I pray is soon—I hope we take with us this new way of communing. I hope we remember what’s important.
