Photographers are always in search of interesting light and sometimes that fights our inclination towards “perfect” exposure. Sometimes mood is best captured by seeing the light and trying to capture it in camera as naturally as possible. Here Seahawks players Tyler Lockett, David Moore, Ugo Amati and Travis Homer walk down the long tunnel from the locker rooms to the field at the LA Coliseum before Sunday Night Football. The tunnel is dark and while one could adjust exposure in camera to make the light more “even”, the underexposure adds drama and is actually more representative of what the eye saw at that moment. Along with the under exposure, I allowed for negative space around the players to show the immenseness of the tunnel, and the low angle adds more drama (h/t to the engineers at Nikon for adding a tilt screen to the Z 6 which allows me to place the camera as low as possible while still seeing the scene). Lastly, the white jerseys make this photo work as they “pop” against the red background. Thanks for viewing and reading!
