The mind is a simple fiction - an illusion.
A basic principle of mindfulness is to understand what the mind is, whether it is an entity or a process - substantial or illusory, and unless you know the nature of the mind you will not be able to transform any aspect of your experience, the same problems will arise again and again.
When you identify with the mind - a self-limiting belief or narrative, you become the mind, you become the story that you are telling yourself.
The root cause of all problems is the mind itself.
MEDITATION Vs PSYCHOTHERAPY
The very nature of psychotherapy is to study the mind, to feed problematic narrative(s) through engagement and analysis - a never ending cycle of stories or narratives where the individual continuously dances between playing the victim and taking a more active role in facing life’s challenges.
So how do you move beyond the mind and excavate self-limiting beliefs and narratives?
The simple answer is Meditation.
Meditation transcends all narrative, you become objective, rather than subject to the function of the mind.
By observing the mind you simply make yourself aware of the unnatural or limiting patterns that have evolved or been embedded into your being.
And in the very observation lies transformation.
A process of realising what you are doing to yourself.
If you are meditating nothing else is needed, however if you are not meditating then psychotherapy and other therapies may be helpful as temporary relief from somewhat uncomfortable personal or collective experiences.
The mind needs no analysis - you’re analysing junk. It simply needs to be emptied, and that method is meditation.
The moment the mind is emptied, you are left with a silent and calm mind – a brain with no noise – and the moment the brain is free from the mind the brain becomes a new space, a clean slate; whereby your inner being - voice or intuition - is amplified.
Learn to meditate, both skilfully and intelligently.

"Why another womxn's leadership program?" "Why don't you include STEM?" "Why is this only for people of color?" "Why does this matter?" These are the questions we aim to address as we begin our pilot programming this spring.
When Moonstone was imagined, we knew it couldn't be more of the same. We knew there were populations, identities, and experiences being excluded from life-changing opportunities. We knew that what was already out there was not enough.
We are striving to create the space, teach the skills, provide the opportunities, and make the connections that young people need to grow into their very best selves and achieve everything they desire and deserve.
As long as these issues persist, we exist. 🌙💎 P.S. Check our sources and other research on our website! Link in bio! #educationequity#socialimpact

I was six years old when I started curling, and have been in love with the game from the start. Since then, sport has introduced me to some of my best friends, and taught me so many life skills. However, not every child gets the opportunity to play the sport they love - one in every three Canadian families simply can’t afford registration fees. That’s why I’m so proud to be playing it forward today by posting a picture of me playing sports as a kid, and donating to @kidsportalberta! 🤗🤗🤗
I nominate @selena_sturmay@keelybrown4 and @krocque to take the #playitforward25 challenge with me! Find an old picture of yourself playing sports, post it on social media, and tag three new friends to take the challenge. Don’t forget to follow it up with a donation to @kidsportalberta 😚😚😚
Educators, administrators, students, and community members interested in changemaking on your nearest campus, we invite you to read our newest “Taylor provocations” paper.⠀
This monograph explores complex issues around the role of higher education centers and departments as engines of changemaking; introduces and apply an ecosystem approach drawing from complex systems thinking, and funnels this through the lens of the popular non-profit “theory of change” framework, using the Taylor Center programs as an example. Read about and download the new Taylor Provocations paper. ⠀

Imagine if you had to make a trip to town whenever you wanted to charge your phone or watch a football match. 🚲 This was the reality in many parts of rural Togo until recently as thousands of people have received access to solar power through a nation-wide initiative! Now when the sun goes down, households gather together to watch TV and children can do homework into the evening. Locally generated power is far cheaper than connecting remote villages to a central grid. For these communities, choosing solar just makes sense!
Purpose, is a very personal thing. And the same goes for businesses that want to move beyond being slaves to profit.
The triple-bottom-line is all about a business expanding their focus to be on: People, Plant and Profit. It’s personal, because it about people. It’s about our communities, and our workers. It’s about the environment and the animals.
I had Ashara Ekundayo on the podcast this week, and she went deep on what #purpose means to her. And how business and has a huge part to play in returning balance to our cities and our societies.
Have a listen. This one was special.

A few weeks ago, I visited @kauffmanfdn ‘s Alternative Capital Summit in #KansasCity where we discussed alternatives to traditional equity-based VC funding for startups.
Did you know that 99% of businesses in the US don’t access #venturecapital and most of those face a critical capital gap? How many world-changing ideas could be funded if we didn’t have to follow the narrow definition of success are popularized by the venture capital industry?
We bring together early stage investors to fund impact ventures, but we’re also cognizant that if we want everyone to get funded, we’ll have to come up with more creative and flexible term sheets that don’t rely on buy-out or IPO - that aren’t predicated on our founders’ willingness to sell out.
Let’s build new models for early stage funding.
Thanks @erossbaird for the chosen slide in your presentation! @zebras.unite

“I’d love to see us get to a place where we talk about caregiving as a normal part of our lives,” shares National Alliance for Caregiving president Grace Whiting on the role of caregiving in society. • The act of caring is an essential part of the human experience. What will it take to get to a place where our various systems are built to accommodate the responsibilities, both temporary and long term, that caregiving involves? This is what the love of a family can do.
Hiwot is 3 and had some delayed developmental learning from not having proper care to help her grow.
After only six months at Selamta Hiwot is walking, starting to talk, sings and loves interacting with people.
She has made clear connections with her caregivers and is constantly smiling. She has made HUGE developmental gains in a very short time and more importantly, she is very happy.
This is why we do what we do with your love and support ❤️
Thanks for sharing those metrics! #Socialimpact is a key differentiator and future-proof strategy for businesses. So grateful @unbouce prioritizes people & programs for good.

Have you ever blown into a several-meter-long pipe to make music? Book your spot on the Great Carpathians Tour in May 9-17 and get a chance to try.
Roman Kumlyk’s museum of folk musical instruments was established in January 2000 in its owner’s home. Roman has been collecting musical instruments and other subjects related to his home region for over 30 years. After he passed away in 2014, one of his daughters Natalia left her job as a doctor to make sure her father’s passion would not die either.
Natalia hosts museum guests, always dressed in traditional clothing and making sure her visitors learn a lot and have fun in her home. She plays many of the instruments from the museum’s collection, and lets the guests try their musical skills as well. There are dozens of instruments here – some are usual ones, others you have probably never seen before. The collection also includes clothing, money, photos and objects from everyday life. The oldest of the musical instruments is over 100 years old.
This place showed me the spirit of the local people yet again. Opening up their home, being so dedicated to their family’s and the region’s history, being so passionate and hard-working for the sake of keeping local traditions alive, all while being open to the world and learning from their visitors as well. For me, meetings with the locals on our tours make me come back to my own roots – they serve as great reminders of what is important, and create space for reflection on how to keep the main things in life as the main things.
Come join me on the Great Carpathians Tour on May 9-17 and explore the worlds of Western Ukraine – and your own!

How Black people wear their hair is none of your damn concern. Keep your combs, your brushes, your curling irons and your hair straighteners to yourself. For decades, Black hair has been unjustly policed everywhere from offices to classrooms. In an effort to eliminate hair discrimination, a few states have already begun passing legislation that addresses this issue.
On June 27, 2019, California became the first state to outlaw racial discrimination of people based on their natural hairstyles. California passed the CROWN Act (Create a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural Hair) which states, "In a society in which hair has historically been one of the many determining factors of a person’s race, and whether they were a second class citizen, hair today remains a proxy for race. Therefore, hair discrimination targeting hairstyles associated with race is racial discrimination."
On July 12, 2019, New York became the second state to explicitly ban race-based hair discrimination in employment. Then New Jersey joined the team when Governor Phil Murphy signed the CROWN Act on December 19, 2019. And now, Virginia is on the brink of becoming the fourth state to ban hair discrimination, with only the signature of the governor remaining for the prohibition to become law.
Other states may soon follow. Similar bills are making their way through Colorado, Washington and Minnesota legislatures, and many more are considering legislation. The adoption of policies like the CROWN Act is key in creating a future where individuals are not harassed or fired based on the texture or style of their hair. For Black people, hair isn't "just hair." Their hair is their crown.
