Struggling to sleep, so work update. Wore layers today because the office gets cold. You know you're in for the long haul when your boss doesn't care what you wear that it doesn't effect what you can do and your ability to work so. My new job is going great so far, I work Monday to Friday with every weekend off. I get paid more than I did telling people what they want to hear as opposed to what they needed to hear. I'm less stressed and welcomed every day and the environment is amazing. Did I mention I get to pet not 1 but 3 dogs?! It takes 21 days to break a habit. Similarly, it takes 21 days to create a new one. Last week, my new #weeklyroutine was tested by overtime, university deadlines and general fatigue. This week, I'm focused on being one day closer to creating a habit and achieving my #halfmarathon and #10k goals. Below are some of my tips and tricks you can use to do this as well. *
1. Schedule it into your day. By blocking time in your calendar you're more likely to complete it without other distractions getting in your way.
2. Make it self-care. Running can be an active meditation (especially with @headspace) and for some, the only alone time you get to disconnect. Honour what you're doing as a daily gift to yourself.
3. Make it fun. This can go well beyond a pumped up playlist. Try to setup a run with friends or as a #datenight in a scenic location. Not only will you avoid #FOMO but you'll have a new accountability partner. *
4. Prepare ahead. I am much more likely to run if I have my workout outfit on and shoes at the door. This makes it especially easy early morning or after late nights of #officelife. #brooklyninbalance
5. Create a habit tracker. This can be a regular calendar or hand-drawn chart with stickers to visibly display the daily commitments you've made. After 21 days reward yourself with a fun #crosstraining class like #yoga@theclass or outdoor activity like #hikingtheglobe.
