🎤🎼Yule never find another love like mine. #lourawls
As a rule, I 😠despise Midtown. It's crowded. It's touristy. It's soulless. But come 🎅Christmastime, I overlook all of that. 'Cause if I'm very lucky, in spite of all the mobs of frazzled shoppers and holiday travelers, I'll get to experience a moment that makes me feel like I'm in the middle of a scene straight outta 🎬Miracle on 34th Street. The day I lose that sense of 🧚♀️enchantment is the day it's time to leave this city.
At any rate, that pretty much explains how I found myself at Pierre Herme, a Parisian 🍰treats shop, renowned for its macarons, with an outpost on the 9th floor of Sak's Fifth Avenue. I'd just seen the famed 🎄tree at Rock Center and was feeling swept up by all the lights and decked out department store windows. I wanted the 🎩🐇magic to continue in the form of cake.
I definitely felt 👛💍💄posh, trying to decide what I wanted from the display case here. As soon as I spotted this mini yule log, however, it was a done deal. 'Cause 🎁Christmas! Yes, am a Chanukah person, but I have a serious case of 🤷♀️envy.
I know, I know. How was it, already? Well, it was undeniably yummy in a rich, 🍫chocolaty, decadent sort if way. I liked. Just 🤔not sure if it was $10 worth of like. But hey, 'tis the season for indulgence.

When women show up for each other 👑 #womanism #whm
Via @thewarandtreaty: We are in NYC this week for an amazing event called Love Rocks NYC happening Thursday 3/12 and #WhoopiGoldberg happens to be one of the host. My connection to Whoopi.
QUICK STORY...Years ago I was one of the kids @whoopigoldberg picked to be in a movie called “#SisterAct2”. She took me to her house with the film producers and wrote the famed scene with Lauryn and I “His Eyes on the Sparrow”. Yeah the scene wasn’t even in the script. She wrote me into the movie. Her presence changed the trajectory of the kind of human being that I wanted to become.
This photo is important because back then I was still in high school, watching my Momma struggle at home with my siblings and I. My Mom loved #LouRawls and we watched him all of the time. I wanted to perform on a show called The #LouRawlsParadeofStars which helped raise funds for HBCU’s around the country.
The producers wouldn’t let me be apart of it because I was an unknown artist. I remember going to the set of Sister Act 2 one day. I was a little bummed. On the way to her trailer Whoopi asked me if I ok. I told her that I wasn’t. Even though I was shooting a movie I wanted to be a singer. I told her that I wanted to do a show and was denied because no one knew who I was.
She asked me what show. I told her and she immediately called around to find out who the producers were. She found out, called them and told them if they allowed me to be apart of the show she was gonna come on the show and introduce me. They did and she did. I ended up performing on the show and learned one of the most profound lessons from Whoopi. Giving of yourself is one of the most powerful gifts that we can give to one another.
Michael and I will perform at Love Rocks this week and she’s one of the host. I haven’t seen her in over 20 plus years. Love Rocks is an incredible event that focuses on giving. It’s not a surprise that Whoopi is the host. I know first hand how it feels when someone gives just to make your life better. She did it for me. I know I’m gonna cry when I hug her. *this photo was taken over 20 plus years ago after she introduced me* #TanyaBlount

Lou Rawls - You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine - 1976
Artist: The Stylistics ⠀
Album: The Stylistics (1971)⠀
Style: Philly soul ⠀
Crown jewel: Betcha By Golly, Wow ⠀
Other essential tracks: Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart), You Are Everything ⠀
Grade: B ⠀
If I could I would catch a falling star to shine on you so I will know where you are. ⠀
Today's tiny pleasure was listening to the Stylistics' influential debut album while taking a hot bath. In addition to being simply one of the most beautiful songs of all time, Betcha By Golly, which was composed by Linda Creed and Thom Bell, is also the tune responsible for launching Phyllis Hyman's career since Norman Connors offered her to record it for the You Are my Starship album released in 1976.
Ain't no sunshine
Sorry to hear the passing of music legend Bill Withers. Anyone interested in pursuing a music career should find inspiration in his story. .
He was the ripe old age of 33 in 1971, still working on an aircraft assembly line when his song, Ain't no sunshine blew up. He'd already served in the Navy 9 years and worked as a milkman before taking up guitar. Lean on me was written while he was learning to play piano. He was a person who stuttered but was able to communicate to millions through his songs. .
He essentially walked away from music because he disliked the travel and dealing with the business. In 2015 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Now, in the wake of this pandemic is a perfect time for his song, Lovely Day.
R. I. P. Bill Withers. .

BGP Records digged & released this tune "When I'm Kissing My Love " 1993 for "Together - The Eastbound Jazz Years" compiled by #JohnCrosby.
Spanky Wilson began performing in clubs aged 17 with #StanleyTurrentine. She was soon recruited by #JimmyMcGriff for a national tour, which ended in 1967 in Los Angeles, California. There, she sang in clubs and was introduced to H. B. Barnum, who invited her to record. She sang as a backing vocalist on records by #LettaMbulu, #OCSmith, #LouRawls and others, before releasing her first single, "The Last Day of Summer", produced by Barnum and released in early 1969.
She has shared the stage with soul and jazz musicians such as #MarvinGaye, #SammyDavisJr., organists #JimmyMcGriff and #BrotherJackMcDuff, cornetist #NatAdderley, percussionist #WillieBobo, #LaloSchifrin and #JimmySmith.
In 1971 she moved to Detroit and sang in clubs before recording for #Eastbound, a subsidiary of #WestboundRecords.
The 1974 single "Home" was again co-written by #HowlettSmith, and Westbound released the album "Specialty of the House" .
In 2007 Westbound records released cd "Spanky Wilson The Westbound Years".
