With everything that is going on in the world, veggies and healthy fats are a great way to support the immune system.
Toasted cashew and edamame salad with shredded carrots, daikon radish and pumpkin seeds and a creamy basil sunflower seed dressing finished with vegan parm cheese!
The best part? This took less them 15 minutes to make because I shredded the lettuce, carrots and radish ahead of time - and premise the dressing!

☺️📝It’s been a while I wanted to write about fermented foods and voilà.
Few times I had a conversation about probiotic pills with my friends. Unfortunately, due to lack of time and, perhaps, due to lack of traditions, we prefer a magic PILL over the food source of nutrients. “heartbroken”😓
👩🏻🎓As a certified SPA & Wellness professional I have to admit that #healingnutrition 🥗is not yet my area of expertise, however it is a dedicated passion along with a regular research mission, not to mention personal daily incorporation. By the twist of fate, I myself have repeatedly been sick and only my wellness approach and nature healing had brought me to where I am now.
🍀#probioticfoods are essential to our health, as they provide probiotic microbes in the best possible form. Supplements 💊 of probiotics settle in the upper parts of the digestive system and generally do not make it all away down to the bowel, while fermented foods will carry probiotic microbes all away down to the end of the digestive system.
Fermentation releases nutrients from the food, making them more bio-available for the body: for example #sauerkraut contains 20 times more bio-available #vitaminC than fresh cabbage (please forget about oranges)!
I will put a few ideas for you to consider...You can ferment by adding kefir or yoghurt culture to food or using traditional methods, such as the one for making sauerkraut.
📝 Fermented foods should always be introduced gradually: they are teaming with probiotic bacteria and live enzymes which may cause a “die-off reaction” in a people with digestion issues / microbiome (gut flora) imbalance.
Homemade 24hrs goat dairy yoghurt/kefir, water kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, fermented veggies, fermented fatty fish like herring & mackerel. Basically, you can ferment any food🤗 .
🟣Sauerkraut is an ancient digestive and detoxifying food, very popular in Eastern Europe. « Warm regards to my German and Russian friends! »😚 So Sauerkraut stimulates stomach acid production and is a great ally in digesting animal proteins. Many people have low stomach acid production.

🍜Immune Boosting Carrot Ginger Soup
•3-4 big fresh carrot (I highly recommend to use fresh carrots, no frozen, bagged, canned or pre-cut)
•1/2 yellow bell pepper
•1/2 cup walnuts
•1/2 cup pecans
•1 piece of a finger of fresh ginger (about 1/2 inch or the size of a garlic clove)
•1 piece of a finger of fresh turmeric (same as ginger, about the size of the garlic clove)
•In a pot, cook the carrots, bell pepper, and nuts together bringing water to boil, depending on the size of your carrots about 20-30 mins.
•Blend the cooked veggies and nuts and add turmeric, ginger, and salt. Add water from the boiled veggies as needed.
🍜Sopa de Zanahoria y Jengibre
•3-4 zanahorias frescas grandes (recomiendo utilizar zanahorias frescas, no congeladas, en bolsas, enlatadas o precortadas)
•1/2 pimiento amarillo
•1/2 taza de walnuts
•1/2 taza de nueces
•1 pedazo de un dedo de jengibre fresco (aproximadamente 1/2 pulgada o del tamaño de un diente de ajo)
•1 trozo de un dedo de cúrcuma fresca (igual que el jengibre, aproximadamente del tamaño del diente de ajo)

Part of my passion in my own life has been finding ways to nourish myself through nutrition. Herbs and vegetables are tremendously healing for the soul and body✨, and they have brought so much light & love into my life.
This Healing Broth recipe is one that fills up my belly & my heart with loads of powerful nutrients.
🧡4 chopped carrots -
💛2 chopped celery stalks -
🧡2 julienned onions -
💛1 cup shiitake mushrooms -
🧡1 cup finely chopped parsley -
💛2 chopped tomatoes -
🧡6-8 minced garlic cloves -
💛1 inch fresh turmeric -
🧡1 inch fresh garlic -
💛8 cups water -
Bring all ingredients to a gentle boil in a large cooking pot. Once boiling, reduced heat to low & simmer for one hour. Strain to consume as broth, or eat whole as a soup.
It’s the perfect meal for a cold winter’s day. ☺️

personally, I believe this yummy, comforting, nutrient dense food can be consumed at any hour of the day. it’s filling and so versatile - craving savory oats? add some chicken stock and veggies. craving something sweet? add fruit and nut butter! the possibilities are just endless and that’s why I appreciate and love oats. plus they are super warming and grounding with this especially cold NY weather ❄️☃️
here’s what i used for my oats:
👩🏻🍳 1 cup @traderjoes rolled oats
👩🏻🍳 1/2 cup water
👩🏻🍳 about a handful of blueberries
👩🏻🍳 2 tsp maple syrup
👩🏻🍳 2 tbsp ground flax seed
👩🏻🍳 1 tbsp cinnamon
toppings: dried figs, coconut superfood clusters, freeze dried strawberries, blueberries, hemp seeds, cashew butter, and a liiiill agave. ✨

'Superfood' powders have been such a good way for me to make sure I'm getting good levels of vitamins & minerals, supporting my body with nutrients, especially in times where I haven't got access to fresh veg, or able to cook nutrient dense meals.
Right now when we might not be able to have access to the abundance of vegetables we are used to, powders like this to add into smoothies, juices, in food, can be a great support for leveling up on nutrients, whilst giving you a load of other benefits in the process!
Some of the superfood powders I rotate in my morning;
🌱CHLORELLA is a type of algae, that’s a great support for the whole body! It's a great support for detoxing heavy metals & toxins & for our immune system, improving NK cell activity. It’s been shown to lower blood sugar & cholesterol & is a great source of protein & essential fatty acids.
🌿SPIRULINA is another form of algae, supporting our body in much the same way as chlorella. Both algaes are also high in Iodine which is a great support for BC.
🌱BARLEY GRASS is super high in key nutrients that are great for supporting our immune system. It is great for aiding detoxification & protecting against cellular damage, regenerating damaged cells. Also rich in enzymes that support digestive health.

Today I officially became a holistic health coach.
A year ago, I signed up to The Academy of Healing Nutrition hoping it might lead me down a new career path and away from PR, which I’d become disillusioned with. The state of the Western healthcare and food systems niggled away at me, and like most, I felt confused about the right thing to do for my own health. I was intrigued by the notion of food as medicine, eastern approaches, and the power of healing plants.
What I didn’t expect from this course, however, was to discover renewed enrichment and clarity in my work as a PR, as well as a strong sense of purpose and direction (see bio). So here I am. Still doing PR! But feeling much more fulfilled.
This quote from Roger Green, founder of AHN sums it all up really ~ “The longevity diet isn’t a diet as such, it is essentially the study of change. In order to live in harmony we have to understand change itself, so that instead of unwittingly opposing it by being rigid and fixed we might flow with it. The longevity path is one of self-discovery; our most meaningful discoveries are not taught by others, but are the result of personal reflection. When applied to eating, this means gaining an understanding of how various foods affect us rather than following an unchanging diet.
To regain health, get into the flow, and spiral into greater levels of awareness, we need to know how to select and prepare food appropriate to our needs given our environment, ancestry, livelihood, desires, individual condition and constitution, as well as understand the laws of change. In time, the longevity path becomes nothing but the adventure of unraveling and applying the basic and simple principles of the Order of the Universe.”

If you’re looking for a natural remedy to boost your immunity our Fire Cider recipe is a must try! (Adapted from @wisewomanherbals)
•What you’ll need:
-1/2 cup peeled and grated ginger root
-1/4 cup peeled and grated turmeric root
-10 cloves of garlic crushed or chopped
-1 jalapeño sliced -1 lemon zest & juice -1 onion chopped -1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
-1/4 cup honey -unfiltered Apple cider vinegar .
-Place all ingredients (except the apple cider vinegar) into a pint sized glass jar. -Pour Apple cider vinegar into the jar until all the ingredients are covered.
-Shake the jar until everything is combined. Store in a cool dark space for 4-6 weeks...shake it daily for about 10 seconds.
-After about a month strain out the solids and store remaining liquid in a container in the fridge. .
Take a shot of this in the morning to boost metabolism, digestion, and immunity 💥
Here’s another recipe to fix that sweet tooth 🦷! A “Lauren Original” for apple crisp 🍎🍏🍎
Here’s what you need:
-glass baking dish greased with coconut oil
-Ninja Pro or food processor -aluminum foil
-6 to 8 large apples (green apples have the lowest glycemic index=low sugar) peeled and sliced
-YL lemon essential oil or lemon juice
-1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
-8 dates (pitted)
-1/2 cup of coconut flour
-1/2 cup of almond flour
-1/2 cup of walnuts
-1/2tsp of cinnamon
-1/2 tsp sea salt
-2tbs of melted coconut oil ~
Here’s what you do:
1.) preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
2.) place sliced apples in greased baking dish- sprinkle with cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice or YL lemon
3.) in the Ninja or food processor, blend the coconut flour, almond flour, walnuts, coconut flakes, dates, cinnamon, and salt
4.) once ingredients have been blended, pour melted coconut oil into the mix and hand-blend with the rubber spatula (it should start to slightly clump together) *if the mixture is to dry, add a drop or two more of coconut oil
5.)pour mixture evenly over the apples and cover with foil
6.) bake covered at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 minutes, uncover and bake another 10 minutes or until the top surface is golden
7.) let cool for 10-15 minutes and enjoy it while it’s still warm! ~
This recipe is paleo, vegan, whole30 friendly, gluten & grain free, AND free of artificial sweeteners! .

Since we were offered a lovely bunch of horseradish from one of our small farm neighbors, we are starting a fresh batch of Cider On FIRE!
Using the root and the newly sprouted spring leaves too.
I love the sense of connection to my community and tradition of this old folk healing recipe.
Using what's close at hand, feels close to heart. ❤❤❤ Will add some onions that wintered over in our garden, some hot peppers from another friend, elacampane root from the same little farm down the street, organic ginger from a locally owned small store, garlic from our garden, rosemary springs growing underneath our livingroom window out front.
All covered in apple cider vinegar. Left to meld for several weeks. Though I have no quams to it being a great marinade right away if I wanted to use it.
Post op nutrition tidbit: Protein is an especially important nutrient because protein helps the body repair and build new cellular tissue. Choose lean meats, fatty fish, beans, and protein-packed smoothies.

Hello you box of deliciousness.
This lovely delivery landed on my doorstep on Monday morning along with @thedetoxkitchen as a brand new client.
Personally, Detox Kitchen is one of the few places in London where I know I can get food that is delicious and uses fresh, natural ingredients (ie no refined sugar, no E numbers, cheap oils and butters etc) going so far as to list the ingredients in their sauces and cakes in the delis. This has also quite possibly contributed to my high consumption of their beetroot brownies.
Anyway, I digress. Over the coming months I’ll be working closely with Lily Simpson and her team to support their mission in helping more people enjoy the health benefits (physical, mental and emotional) that come with eating natural food.
It’s a mission that’s been true to their core since they opened almost eight years.
And as the Company expands their home delivery service beyond London this year, they plan to do as much as they can to champion the consumption of natural foods and support the long term health of their customers and ultimately the world. 🙏🏼

Legs and BOOTY and burning fat I’m at my most out of shape and I want to be open and way more vulnerable it’s mad how built I stay but I want to be bendy I’m naturally stocky but you can still be toned muscly strong slim without having my belly lol BUILT AND BENDY ... more importantly working out just like yoga or any discipline has been supper hard to focus on and stay concentrated this was a a morning evening discipline a year ago yet the loss shock devastation anxiety ect aloness and complete change of life loss of freedom and trapped work all just allowed me give up not being able to eat or move let alone work out or practice al that I did /do so this was is the start of working out again powerfully .... this is a year and half late this is a BULKY VERSION OF JESS this is the most out of shape ever been but mentally this is so important as your structure gets stronger your bones your cartilage your joints and every muscle so does your mental belief and gradually one grows . Imagine if I woke up saying that to myself everyday. I think I’d take on the day a lot differently. 🌞
I’ve been working on practicing my gratitude- I go in and out of good practice to be honest. I’ll go weeks making gratitude lists & feeling the benefits but then if I get busy & forget one day I may break the habit. 🤨
Here is my solution: the days I don’t have time in the morning or forget to write them down- I say them aloud. Because thinking of them was okay, but it felt so much more powerful to thank the lord or tell someone directly to them that I am grateful for them or share the things I’m grateful for with them. 🌱
So instead of me saying well that doesn’t work for me- I shifted it to what does work? What will be powerful & have a similar affect or influence over me and my day? So I tried some things. Googled. Whatever! But I discovered what worked. And it fits. 💪🏽
I’ll be practicing this week with my clients and working on it as well. Give it a try guys. 💝

I know it might go against all my pro feminist ways to admit, but my place really might be in the kitchen 🤷🏼♀️
I woke up feeling alright today, albeit a lot later than normal. Had a lie in whilst spooning the cat, did some yoga...😮 for the first time since Monday 🥳 and was going to continue my #selfcaresunday with a nice walk, maybe come back and half a bath, face mask...all that usual self care Sunday stuff. But honestly the only place I truly wanted to be was in the kitchen cooking and eating gorgeous food. So that’s where I’ve been, most of the day...and I’m so grateful that I could actually be bothered today to get in there.
Is it weird that that is what brings me joy? 🤔
If in any doubt of how to make me feel better...the answer is always food, always, before anything else. Oh and maybe a massage, I quite like them too! ✨
